I got an email a few days ago from a company that sells cycling jerseys.

They are pretty entertaining and I got a laugh out of them so here's a link:

I particularly like 'Don't Run Me Over'.

No cash or merchandise was exchanged for this link - although it's certainly encouraged.

Happy New Year!

8 speed Record Ergo Titanium/Carbon shifters

Campagnolo Ergo shifters are sold.

For sale - 8 speed Campagnolo Record Ergo Shifters. These are the last generation before nine speed (i think) with carbon body and alloy levers, titanium parts. I'm not an expert on the variations but there should be some online resources if you need details.

Excellent condition - the pictures aren't great but should be sufficient to give you a good idea on their cosmetic condition. I had these on the Dave Tesch I sold earlier this year. I also have 8 speed Chorus derailleurs, cranks and monoplaner calipers but no pictures at this time, as well as 8 speed Chorus wheels (on Velocity Aerohead rims).

I'd like $200 shipped for the Ergo shifters, but contact me with reasonable offers or if interested in multiple parts. Trades for newer Campy and miscellaneous parts like water bottle cages and saddles considered. Send me a note for details.

The best way to contact me is via email to: taztaylor@mindspring.com Comments here or email to the gmail account may not be read immediately.

thanks,

more Bontrager cross

it's that time of year again...

Silver Bontrager has found a new home in San Francisco and made it's racing debut yesterday. Here's a pic I grabbed from Ken's flickr site showing the CX in its new trim.

Looking good with latest Campagnolo Centaur, Salsa stem and pewter Chris King headset.

Previous iterations:
My build:
Not bad, but you can see by the stem and saddle location that it was a little too big. Ken's build is a definite step up.

as originally found/purchased:
Lots of work and cleaning but nice to know it's back in race trim and doing battle. Good luck with 'cross season Ken!

And before I forget... here's a couple of shots of Jay and the black Bonty CX in action last season:

what's new

I haven't blogged anything in a very long time, but since I've gotten a few emails and questions about 'for sale' bikes here's an update.

The red/yellow Fuso is sold. The red Sachs without decals is sold. The Dave Tesch is sold.

The red 54 Sachs with decals - it was for sale but had little interest. I think the dent scared most people away. Now it's at Bilienky Cycle Works to have S&S couplers installed and the dent removed along with a theadless steerer and some paint touch up. Haven't decided if I'll sell it after the work's completed.

The silver Bontrager CX is still for sale SOLD- $325 plus shipping and I probably have some parts I can add in.

Bruce Gordon Chinook 56cm is for sale SOLD. $325 with Look Carbon fork, $425 with Curt Goodrich fork.

The Chris Kvale frame and fork is for sale SOLD. Pictures are in earlier posts but this is the first time (and place) I've listed it as for sale.
56cm - email me to discuss if interested.

If you have interest in mtbs, I have a Bontrager Racelite with original Bontrager fork crown on Judy fork *and* an Ibis Mojo. I haven't given these a lot of thought but I'll probably be selling at least one. The Ibis has ***never been ridden***. It's basically brand new with new parts except for the fork and the brake levers.

So that's what's going on here... trying to ride more and accumulate less. Still got a ways to go on both fronts.

For those of you that have checked the blog from time to time, sorry about the neglect. Don't know if I'll be any better in the near future - we'll see.

Bontrager cycloCROSS!

As e-RICHIE says, "it's only a 'cross bike if you race 'cross atmo".
I'm happy to say that my black Bonty CX has returned to it's true calling as a cross bike at it's new home.

New owner Jay has already put it on the line (and in the dirt) in the North Carolina CX series and reports that "he points and it goes". Jay sent a couple of pics with it's new SRAM Rival build and I gotta admit it looks even better now.

Good luck Jay with the NC Winter Cup and send us some action pics when you get a chance.

Oh yeah - I promise that the cable hangar is coming shortly!

eBay

My 56cm '77 Sachs is sold and will be on it's way to a new home soon.

Some interesting facts:
1200 + views of the auction
85 watching (tracking)
8 people sent questions/asked for more info
Only 1 bid @ starting (and ending) price of $875.00
Buy it now price of $1150 lasted for two days with no takers.

A 57cm Sachs Strada Immaculata (eg, not a signature model) sold during the same time for $1499. A nice looking frame, but $625 better? Here's a link.

Call me cynical, but I think the lack of decals was a factor. Are bike enthusiasts really that shallow or was it just an ebay thing?

I hope the new home appreciates my frame (I think it will). Lots of nice details on this one that you won't find on the Strada Immaculata.

Richard Sachs frame now on eBay

I put my '77 Richard Sachs frame and fork on eBay. The auction number is 250353326191 or you can click here

This is the red 56cm (56x56 ctc) Sachs that I've posted here previously. Ending date for auction is Jan 13 - Tuesday and the current high bid is $850.

I'm happy to answer any questions, but please don't ask me to end the auction early since it already has a bid.
